Fix Display Driver Stopped Responding And Has Recovered Error Caused By Firefox Browser

Generally, Firefox works well on all operating systems but for some reason, display driver errors are caused on Windows operating systems. This is basically due to the addition of a feature called graphics hardware acceleration into the Firefox browser. This feature has been improved a lot from its introduction but still, there are a few glitches here and there. This was pointed out in the Mozilla support forums (here and here).

Graphics hardware acceleration feature can be disabled in the Firefox browser to fix the error from occurring again. Let’s see those steps:

  1. Open the Hamburger menu at the top right and go to Options.
  2. In the Options tab select General on the left side menu. On the right side scroll down till you see the heading Performance, uncheck Use recommended performance settings option to display additional settings below.
  3. Now uncheck the Use hardware acceleration when available option and there you go.
  4. Now restart your Firefox browser and enjoy.
